Samsung Medison said Sunday that it has presented the results of the clinical utility results for Crystal Clear Cycle (CCC) at the International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics & Gynecology (ISUOG).

CCC is a life cycle-integrated diagnosis solution for women that provide necessary ultrasonic diagnostic functions with the company’s equipment for pregnancy planning, fetal development measurement, fetal malformation test, fetal imaging diagnosis, delivery and female cancer diagnosis.

During the session, Professor Lami Yeo of the department of obstetrics and gynecology at Wayne State University presented her dissertation regarding 5D Heart, one of the equipment used in the CCC.

“Samsung's 5D Heart enables quick and accurate diagnosis by allowing the doctor to examine the nine standard fetal echocardiography views in a single template display that is needed to diagnose congenital heart disease,” said Yeo. “Using the results for diagnosis we obtained a sensitivity of 98 percent, specificity of 93 percent and accuracy of 95 percent.”

Sensitivity refers to the probability of diagnosing a person with a disease as positive, while specificity relates to the likelihood of diagnosing a person without a disease as negative.

The result of the study is set to be published in the October 2017 edition of “Ultrasound in Obstetrics & Gynecology.”

The company _{삼성메디슨} also introduced different diagnostic tools used in the CCC such as E-Cervix, Crystal Vue, and Iota-Adnex, as well as the prototypes of ultrasound system with new ergonomics, stress-relief transducers and a cloud-based IT solution that enables ultrasound images for diagnosis by minimizing time and location constraints at a private session.
