The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety has barred Johnson & Johnson Korea from advertising its Band-Aids until next month for violating advertising laws, the agency said Monday.

Article 68 of the Pharmaceutical Affairs Act states no advertisement can lead people to “misunderstand that doctors, dentists, oriental pharmacists, veterinarians or other persons guarantee the efficacy or performance of drugs.”

The advertisement in question violated the act by naming a pediatric doctor in its guideline that explained how its Band-Aid prevents scarring, on its homepage.

Companies that violate regulations for the first time are prohibited from advertising for a month. Two strikes result in a two-month ban, a three-month ban on the third violation, and six months for the fourth offense.

The four types of Band-Aids are used to cover scars on the knees, elbows, and fingers.
