The Asian Bioethics Association and the National Bioethics Committee of Korea will jointly host the 18th Asia Bioethics Conference from Oct. 25-27 at Severance Hospital Avison Biomedical Research Center, organizers said Thursday.

Under the theme of the “Future of Bioethics & Health Care,” the three-day symposium aims to strengthen the expertise of bioethics research results, bioethics education, and international events to discuss solutions to future challenges related to bioethics, they added.

The association has more than 500 members, including 12 regional vice presidents and 10 representatives, in more than 30 countries across Asia, has held annual conferences in different member nations.

About 100 scholars, students, and experts from 20 Asian countries will attend the “ABC18” event. The Asian Institute of Bioethics and Health Law at Yonsei University연세대 의료법윤리학연구원 will take part in the event, along with Catholic University가톨릭대, Donga University동아대, Inje University인제대, Korea Association of Medical Law한국의료법학회, and the Academic Network for Future Medicine and Humanities미래인문사회의학회.

"We hope that this event will be a forum for international cooperation to share developments and experiences in the field of bioethics in Asia and to present the future vision and paradigm of bioethics,” said Jun Bang-ook전방욱, president of Asian Bioethics Association.
