I truly congratulate the Korean Doctor's Weekly, an expert in the medical industry, on the publication of the English healthcare newspaper, the “Korea Biomedical Review.”

The exports of Korean medical products and equipment have grown rapidly every year. The domestic businesses have also diversified their export destinations to many different countries such as Hungary, Switzerland, Finland and France, particularly in the sphere of biopharmaceuticals, including biosimilar products.

Last year, Korea won international recognition as having one of the best drug licensing systems in the world, as the World Health Organization exempted the nation from its GMP (good manufacturing process) on-site examination regarding Korean-made vaccines delivered to the United Nations. Korea also became a full member of the International Conference on Harmonization (ICH).

I find the launch of KBR very meaningful in that it pursues an important task of introducing Korea's excellent medical products and technology to the world. We believe that the newspaper will grow to be the leading expert on Korea’s healthcare industry.

The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety is also pushing for policies to elevate the domestic medical products to one of top export items for the country.

In particular, we are providing information necessary for export, by operating data support centers, bio-IT platforms and a comprehensive information bank of medical equipment, to help domestic products enter the foreign market.

We ask for KBR's continual attention to and assistance for the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety by accurately reporting its policies

Once again, we congratulate you on the publication of KBR.

Son Moon-gi
Minister
The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety
