I sincerely congratulate the first issue of The Korea Biomedical Business Review (KBR) published by The Korean Doctor’s Weekly, on behalf of all hospitals in Korea.

Looking back, the publication of The Korean Doctors’ Weekly 25 years ago, with the motto of “Let’s reflect on and reform Korea’s healthcare industry,” sent a shockwave throughout the entire sector.

The Korean Doctor’s Weekly has since established itself as the newspaper “worthy of reading” armed contents and editing style differentiated with the existing media outlets. I know the paper also has published nearly 100 books, enjoying popularity among readers interested in this field.

As an avid reader, I am sorry to hear the paper is stopping the publication of its off-line edition, which has enjoyed the love of its readers as the “much wished-for paper.” However, the enhancement of its on-line edition and the first publication of an English sister paper comes as welcome news for congratulation.

I have heard that KBR is Korea’s first English newspaper specialized in the healthcare field. Given the importance of biomedical and healthcare areas and potentials for further growth, the release of KBR can hardly be timelier.

I hope the new media outlet enjoys love from global readers interested in Korea’s advanced medical services and healthcare industry. Particularly, I expect KBR will greatly help Korean healthcare industry develop overseas markets and domestic medical institutions attract foreign patients.

I also wish the English paper to play a leading role in publicizing the excellence of Korean hospitals abroad and improving various policies that hamper hospitals’ management.

I hope KBR will take a firm place as the media loved by readers, Korean and foreign, as soon as possible.
