Samsung Medison said Monday that it has launched RS85, an ultrasonic diagnostic equipment for large hospitals.

RS85 is a newly developed product with enhanced research capabilities to meet the needs of large hospitals around the world, the company said. Its freshly applied functions include the MV-Flow (embryo flow) and S-Shearwave Imaging (escrow wave imaging).

MV-Flow helps to identify lesions by showing the blood flow of microvascular tissue that was not measured by conventional Doppler ultrasonography, while S-Shearwave Imaging uses ultrasonic transverse elasticity to quantify the elasticity of human tissues, thereby improving the accuracy of cirrhosis and tumor diagnosis.

The machine’s additional function includes the CEUS+ function, which helps diagnose blood flow or lesion with contrast media and extended the scope of the diagnosis to pediatric as well as liver and breast. The machine also uses a monitor arm, which has a broader range of motion than the existing models and has a touchscreen capable of running various customized operations.

The company 삼성메디슨 plans to introduce RS85 worldwide, starting with Korea and Europe.

"RS85 is expected to become a product that represents Samsung in the field of radiology with the company’s unique technology,” said Song In-suk 송인숙, vice-president of marketing, health and medical equipment of Samsung Electronics.

The machine will also provide an opportunity to accelerate business diversification by achieving high results in ultrasound diagnostic equipment for medical imaging, Song added.
