Professor Park Min-hyun of the Catholic University of Korea Saint Paul’s Hospital has become the first Korean to receive the International Scholar Award from the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, the hospital said Wednesday.

The American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP) is a non-profit professional association in the United States dedicated to facilitating psychiatric care for children and adolescents.

The winner of the International Scholar Award is selected based on consideration of research achievements such as SCI thesis achievement and the possibility of future research exchange.

Park, who studied at Stanford University Hospital, has worked as a researcher in charge of national projects related to pediatric cognitive function and brain imaging. She has also contributed to international academic exchanges by publishing numerous papers in international journals.

Park, who works at a primary medical field for children and adolescents with mental disorders such as learning disabilities and tic disorders, has been actively worked at the Seoul Seocho Mental Health Promotion Center, General Counsel for Children and Adolescent Psychiatry, and Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education.

She is currently a member of the Korea Neuropsychiatry Association, the Seoul Municipal Children's Counseling Center, the National Pension Service's Advisory Committee on Autism Disability Assessment, and the Welfare Corporation's Disability Rating Advisory Board.
