Korea and Italy will hold a bilateral symposium on human microbiomes on the sidelines of the International 2018 BIO KOREA convention at COEX in Gangnam on May 10.

"The workshop on human microbiome is a further step in the bilateral cooperation on biomedicine managed by the Italian Embassy," said Professor Francesco Canganella, head of the Science and Technology Office from the Embassy of Italy. "The human microbiome can surely be defined as one of the most fascinating research subject in terms of basic knowledge as well as of potential medical applications."

The symposium will focus on current aspects and upcoming developments in the field of human microbiomes, which refer to the trillions of microorganisms that reside on or in human tissues and biofluids in the body.

Italian Ambassador Marco della Seta will open the event, along with speakers such as Italian Trade Agency-Seoul’s Trade Commissioner Paola Bellusci and distinguished university professors and company CEOs.
