The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) said Tuesday that it has lifted the sales ban on 20 brands of wheat and 13 brands of flour imported from Canada.

The ministry imposed a sale ban on the 33 brands of flour and wheat after the Canadian Food Inspection Agency announced that it had found unauthorized gene mutation (MON 71200) in the wheat produced in the southern region of Alberta Province.

It lifted the ban after finding no traces of unauthorized gene mutations in the imported wheat and flours in a series of tests.

“We will inspect every Canadian wheat and flour for unauthorized genetic modification at each import and will block or eliminate them if detected,” a ministry official said.
