GC MS said that it plans to expand its point of care testing (POCT) business by entering into a strategic investment partnership with Rootee Health, a local startup specializing in ophthalmology examination.

Rootee is developing smart diagnostic devices for eye diseases, including ELI, an automated CT fundus POCT medical device. ELI is a virtual reality (VR) device that examines the eye through a simple operation.

Under the accord, GC MS will exclusively manufacture ELI and cooperate with Rootee Health for marketing it in overseas markets, while also. The two agreed not to disclose details of their agreement.

“This contract is the first fruit of our open innovation, which has been actively promoted since last year,” GC MS said.

CEO Ahn Eun-uk said, “GC MS is emerging as a POCT company by launching its glycated hemoglobin measurement system Greencare A1c and cholesterol measurement system Greencare Lipid.”

The company plans to increase its global market share thorough analyzing each country, Ahn added.
