VUNO introduces AI-based voice recognition solution to Yongin Severance Hospital

VUNO, an artificial intelligence (AI) medical solutions provider, said Friday it signed a contract to introduce VUNO Med®-Deep ASR, an AI-based voice-aware medical solution, to the newly built Severance Hospital in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province.

VUNO Med®-Deep ASR is AI-based medical voice recognition software that can write and modify in real-time by introducing automatic speech recognition (ASR) technology. The software can be used in making medical documents in various areas, such as radiology, nuclear medicine, clinical pathology, surgery, and hospitalization.

VUNO’s new solution is optimized for the domestic clinical environment by learning thousands of hours of Korean medical image reading data to process the mixed-use of Korean and English medical terms in test techniques quickly.

The solution is also published in the International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing (ICASSP). According to the publication, the software uses data augmentation technology to convert old data into new ones. So it allows the model to establish an extensive range of data set from a small one.

VUNO Med®-Deep ASR can provide customized service by inputting a patient's personal information, reading results, vital signs and other items in voice recognition. The software also can load various systems such as picture archiving and communication systems and electronic medical records.

"We will do our best to meet the needs of various clinical fields as a leading AI solution developer based on diverse medical data, including voice and vital signs," CEO Lee Ye-ha said.

From the early period of establishment, VUNO has focused on developing related solutions by running a separate research team and on the needs to introduce AI technology to the existing reading processes in medical recordings, transcriptionists, and verification of medical staff, he added.

VUNO Research Center Director Kim Sang-ki also said, "Our AI-based speech recognition solution has been developed based on excellent technology that attracted the attention in global conferences as Korea’s top-quality product.”
