Huons said Tuesday that it would export "Korea Filter 94" (KF94) face masks to the Washington state government in the United States.

Huons began to export private preventive equipment to the U.S. through its branch, "Huons USA" in Seattle, in May and has since signed six additional contracts worth 8 billion won ($6.66 million). It has just been chosen as a mask supplier for state government.

The Washington state initially planned to import Chinese KN95 masks but decided to switch to Korea's KF94 masks, according to Huons. This is the first time that domestic masks are supplied to a U.S. state government. The University of Washington’s School of Medicine will receive the entire volume provided by Huons and use them in the medical field.

Huons plans to make the first shipment to the U.S. in early July and supply more, as the discussions on additional export in the second-half year are progressing smoothly.

"Inquiries about KF94 masks, quarantine products, Corona 19 kits, and medicines are coming not only from the Washington state but also from the New York State,” Huons CEO Um Ki-ahn said. “We expect to sign additional export contracts soon,"
